ICL growing media production update

17 March 2021
  • Whastsapp

The horticultural trade, both retail and professional continues to see growing media demand expand at a significant pace as we now enter the key sales and production periods;  the 2021 season is providing additional challenges to the Industry, particularly given the continued knock on effects of COVID and BREXIT to raw material supply and staffing levels across supply chains.

New lead times

Looking forward now also to the end of March, when some Covid lockdown restrictions are planned to be eased, we do see the potential for delays in the overall transport industry as clearly demand in markets who are currently in lockdown will increase significantly as these businesses start to gear up for re-opening.

ICL continue to work hard to maximise production capacity and service grower needs and as part of our ongoing communication process given the level of orders now being received, we have to further review the current production lead time for Probales and bags.

Updated lead times effective immediately+: -

  • Loose bulk and bulk bags : 14 working days
  • Probales: 21 working days
  • Bagged product: 21 working days

+Although every effort will be made to fullfill these order times timings are subject to availability.

Humax products - Temporary suspension

Due to the significant pressure on bagged product orders currently being experienced, ICL have now decided with immediate effect to withdraw the sale of the Humax semi professional growing media range until further notice. This will enable ICL to concentrate fully on the core professional growing media range.

In readiness for the Autumn of 2021 ICL will have installed a new high capacity bagging line, which will significantly increase ICL's capacity for both professional and retail products; ICL also expect to launch a complete new range of Humax Sustainable growing media  and will communicate further information with regards to this when it is available.

Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused by this temporary suspension.
