Голубика лучше всего растет на солнечном участке в песчаной торфяной почве, но она также хорошо себя чувствует и на тяжелых почвах, если они хорошо дренированы, аэрированы, содержат много органических веществ и получают достаточное количество влаги. Самым важным требованием при выращивании голубики является кислая почва. Если pH почвы больше 5, но меньше 7, ее кислотность можно повысить внесением серы или кислого торфа. Кислотность почвы после внесения серы повышается очень медленно. Непрактично снижать pH щелочных почв (pH>7) настолько низко, чтобы выращивать голубику. При минимальной температуре ниже -29˚C голубика получает зимние повреждения. Для достижения наилучших результатов голубике необходим безморозный вегетационный период продолжительностью не менее 140 дней. Растения голубики самоопыляемые, но размер ягод увеличивается при перекрестном опылении от другого сорта.
